2020 NTR Tryout Policy & Process

Please view our Tryouts page for additional information regarding upcoming evaluations, clinics and process.  It is against the policy to sign any kind of paper work that may be provided to you by a club prior to the official region signing/acceptance dates (August 2nd for 15s-18s and August 16, 2019 for 10s-14s).  Tryouts will continue post signing dates until all teams are completed!

We will have positions OPEN for the upcoming season...including on our top National teams! Please do not feel pressured into making a quick and rushed decision elsewhere.  We encourage you to check us out first before making this important decision for your athlete.

2020-2021 Areté Teams

We offer 3 competitive levels of club programs & teams: Telos (Navy), Ethos (Steel) & Pathos (Jade, White, Blue) + Boys. Our goal is to truly work with and take great care of each of our athletes to find the best fit for them, how a team's overall chemistry comes together with purpose and positive intent, position-based and where each athlete can achieve her highest potential and success.  Team specific information is provided below.

Once a player participates (including but not limited to practicing, training, attending workouts and/or competing) in a club or varsity program for any university, college, community college, or junior college, he/she is ineligible to take part in any regional and national programming, which includes but is not limited to GJNC qualifying and championship events.

Not sure what age division you should try out for?  Just figure out how old you will be next year on August 31, 2021.  You are eligible to play in that age group or an older age group.  Players are allowed to play up in an older age division, but are not necessarily allowed to play down in age.  The birth date cut-off set by USA Volleyball is September 1.  See the age division chart for official date guidelines.

*Team status will be updated upon the start of the 2020-21 Tryout Evaluation Period. Information provided will be  based on player interest in Areté.

FAQs

Over the last few years, there has been a lot of activity and buzz about the unexpected early pressures in our region’s tryout process, which has caused some confusion, stress and panic about what is and isn't acceptable.

Please know that there is always time prior to the official region signing/acceptance date each season to find the right club home for your athlete(s) and family.  Please do not feel pressured into making a quick, rushed decision – especially too early.  We encourage you to ensure that all your questions are answered, information is transparently and proactively shared with you, and you understand the plan for your daughter and the team she is trying out for and being offered.

Q: When were the official 2020-2021 Evaluation Window and Signing/Acceptance Dates?

A: 15s-18s = Evaluation Window = July 25 - August 1, 2020 (Acceptance Date: August 2, 2020), 10s-14s = Evaluation Window = August 8 - 15, 2020 (Acceptance Date: August 16, 2020).  Any offers made during the summer prior to the official region signing dates are non-binding as the North Texas Region does not recognize any verbal offers or club contracts made prior to these official dates.  It is against the NTR policy (released in 2018) to sign anything prior to the official signing/acceptance dates!  Organizations may pull their verbal offers during the evaluation window and athletes may also change their mind.

Organizations may offer clinics and various training sessions leading up to the official evaluation/tryout dates, however participation in these offerings does not lock you into any club until the prescribed dates. We highly recommend exploring various options prior to signing with any club.  We encourage you to check out Areté and experience for yourself a positive, high energy and inviting culture that provides a high level and challenging training ground led by experienced coaches.

Q: How many teams will Areté have for the 2020-2021 season?

A: Being that we had a very successful inaugural 2015-2016 season, and subsequent seasons since launch, it is very important to us that we continue to provide excellence, quality coaching and an amazing, unique experience – for our athletes, families, coaches and staff.  We started with 9 teams and grew successfully to 22 teams in our 2nd year.  Every year we plan to have 23-25 teams and we have a long-term vision of growing at a steady pace and are continuing to build additional Areté Jrs. teams and enhancing our Academy program further.  We’d love for you to come check us out and be a part of Areté!

We want your volleyball club process and experience to be positive, motivating and exciting for you and your family.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or additional information you may need regarding our organization, program offerings, the tryout process, etc.
